Buchan has been recognised by the Large Format Retail Association (LFRA) for immense contribution to the industry.
For more than 25 years Buchan has collaborated with our clients and industry partners to design and develop new concepts in Large Format Retail that have paved the way for a transition from traditional ‘big box’ to lifestyle-oriented experiences, and with it, new adjacencies to Large Format Retail led by Health, Wellness, Leisure and Entertainment.
Receiving the award on behalf of Buchan, Phil Schoutrop Principal and Sector Lead – Precincts, cites long term client relationships as the foundation for creativity and driving ‘the next’ in the continually evolving asset class.

Combining Buchan’s experience in Large Format Retail with his passion for travel, Phil has led the LRFA Overseas Study Tour Program since 2012. These trips have served to educate and inform members on the latest developments and concepts in Large Format Retailing.
Over the last decade, Buchan has designed and delivered over 1 million square meters of Large Format Retail projects for clients across Australia and New Zealand.
