Northland Entertainment PRESTON, VIC
Public space, external tenancies, vibrant colour, theatrical lighting and an interactive sculpture are the key elements of the $9 M extension to the Entertainment Precinct at Gandel Retail Trust's Northland Shopping Centre.
The development presents a new layer of external building forms and outward-facing activity to the Murray Road frontage of the centre, wrapping around existing buildings to link with and integrate a multi-deck carpark. Four new external tenancies, including a nightclub, are set around a public plaza which is defined at either end by large, illuminated coloured screens above parapet level. A tall, illuminated glass tower provides an additional focal point, while a large central fountain invites interaction from children. The project also includes a glazed mall extending from the existing building, with four tenancies and a kiosk.
